media confrence

Lecture 1
Media is seen to be a soft subject, nevertheless people may be proven wrong as statistics show that less people do as well as expected in media, this conveys that it is quite difficult. However people still feel that it is easier to pass and should receive fewer points. Private schools are shunning media as they want their students to peruse on a hard and academic subject.
Media is studied in the top universities and is a great subjects as you need to be creative and think very hard about all different aspects involved. Being a media student allows you to be constructive and think why camera angles are directed in a certain way, the use of a background and how it links to the film, etc. Furthermore being a media student allows you to ask “why?” instead of being a passive media consumer, this indicates how studying media allows students to create their own perceptive opinions and become inquisitive in the ideas of why things are the way they are.
Media is quite alike to English literature, this is because in English you allow yourself to think critically, similarly you think this way in media in order to understand and create ideas on something. Media students generally are liked by employees as it suggests the student may be creative, they are confident, have good presentational skills and are responsible. Moreover, team-work is often in work related to media, to be able to work well within a team is identified as a good attribute by employers etc.
Lecture 2
Online media is making the world more democratic, online gaming, online news, films, these all reflect convergence (the coming together of media technologies). Portability has increased as well as interactivity. As news comes in the form of mobile phones and laptops, newspapers are slowly becoming less valued and are used less if media goes to 2.0. It is more convenient to get the news wherever you are. Instead of going to a shop and buying a newspaper.
Web 2.0 is available and this affects people as they are able to create blogs and pass on their work and ideas. Social networks are becoming more apparent and are further developing and becoming very popular amongst people, especially young people. It is easily accessible and the world is becoming smaller because of the internet. Links and tagging have been used which is another feature of 2.0.
Lecture 3

Also you need to keep the evidence to prove that you have done your research. Look at every angle, furthermore look at the different types of conventions, audiences and institutions.
Things can go wrong and this is all a part of making a production. Record all of your planning-visuals and show the process of your journey to show what you have done, additionally you can evaluate it and perform analysis in order to make it better.
Blogging and evidence is another key concept in making the best media production, blogs allow you to link examples, ideas and inspiration. Evidence is key to show how you constructed your ideas i.e. storyboards and animates.
Also, Ideas and feedback, best to keep them simple, make sure you can create concepts, make them easy and available. It is good to get feedback from teachers and other peers, take both positive and negative feedback in order to make the best production possible. Take ideas on board and don’t take them in the wrong way as the points are made to only help.
Logistics and equipment is needed, places, props and costumes, it is best to get it done early and then start making your changes and editing. Rehearse and prepare to make it as best as possible and not forgetting professional. Practice on how to use the equipment, start with the big picture and then go on to the fine tune details later.
